Stress – Do You Have It?
In today’s world where life often feels like living in a pressure cooker, it is hard to know what is normal life and what might be actual stress. A person oriented towards wellness and health probably doesn’t want to make a big deal out of things, but how do you know if you might be suffering from stress, and what can you do about it?
From time to time it is normal for ladies and men to be upset or to feel as though one has had enough of this or that. We all experience such things. However when such feelings persist or impact our routine activities of daily living, we may be looking at actual stress.
Here are some of the hallmarks for determining if you might have a case of stress:
- Difficulties in sleeping, or the inability to sleep.
- Poor appetite
- Decreased sexual interest
- Depression or feelings of anxiety
- Having a hard time concentrating
- Unexplained emotions like crying
- Shaking
- Physical complaints
Talking to your doctor about these or other symptoms is important.
Your physician will make sure that there is not anything medical that needs to be addressed. The doctor may refer you to a professional to help further address your concerns.
Dealing with stress is a multifaceted approach. first, identifying the source of the stress is important. Working to deal with the stress is an important step, too. Developing coping skills to deal with and manage stress is a step in the right direction. Living a lifestyle which attempts to reduce stress is a goal all of us probably have.
Some of the ways of reducing stress include identifying a quite place of calm in your environment, relaxation training, monitoring our thoughts and stress triggers, and being fully conscious of our emotions and behavior.
Each step we take towards stress reduction, is one that helps us to lead a life which is more calm and serene.
