If you are, this article will make sure that you find the right one and that you don’t forget to consider all the different factors that would make it the perfect gym for you. Print these questions out and fill them in for every gym you consider (no matter if it’s only one):
Distance from home or office
The further away the gym is from your home or office, the less likely you are to use the gym regularly. So make sure to make a note of how far the gyms are and try to choose one that is the closest to your home or office.
Locker facilities
In order to lock away your valuables you will need locker facilities. Make sure to check with the gyms that you are visiting for lockers.
The appearance and neatness of the rest rooms
The appearance and the neatness of the restrooms say a lot about the gym. If their restrooms are untidy or dirty, just imagine how they run the rest of the business.
The attitude of the staff
You can bet if the staff is unfriendly or hostile on a daily basis that they will be the same when you need help with the gym or with your membership.
Classes offered
Check if the gym has the classes that you would like to attend like and that they are at the times that you are able to attend it.
Variety and number of cardio machines
Make sure that the gym has a wide variety or cardio machines and that they have enough for all their members.
Variety and the number of strength training machines and weights
Do the same for the strength training machines and equipment as for the cardio equipment.
The hours of the gym
Check what is the hours of the gym and whether you the times suits you and your exercise times. Be sure to also check their rules regarding public and other special holidays.
Extra facilities and services
Check what extra facilities and services they have for example do they have: racket ball, saunas, spas, tanning booth, cafeteria or personal trainers?
Number of members versus number of machines
To make sure that you won’t stand in a queue to use a machine, check how many members they have versus the number of machines.
