Users liked the instant readout of running pace, distance and heart rate, important to ensure you are exercising in your heart rate zone. Acquiring the satellite signal can be take a minute or two but once acquired drop out rate is extremely low. The layout of the display is completely customisable and easy to set up and you can choose from over thirty different data fields including heart rate, distance, running time, pace, heading, current time even sunrise and sunset times (handy when your a distance from home!) You can choose which data to have on different screens and its easy to swap between the three available screens.

The heart rate monitor strap is comfortable and reliable, an improvement over previous models. There’s an auto lap function you can set for the distance you need. The auto pause feature is handy as it stops recording if you are standing still. The lithium ion battery lasts for about ten hours but make sure you turn it off when not in use as there’s no automatic turn off switch.

The data can be downloaded to a variety of programs including Google Earth or Sporttracks (free from a third party) which allow you overlay your runs on a map. With the accurate tracking there is no need to stick to known routes to monitor your pace. run anywhere and the Gamin will give you an accurate pace rate and all the data you need!

The only disadvantages reported were that the watch itself is a bit bulky and some people have reported that the calorie counter is not very accurate. Gamin technical support are working on this issue.
