The Sonicare Essence does an excellent job of cleaning the teeth, preventing gum recession and removing plaque. The heads are slimmer than on the Advance model which many people find more comfortable to manipulate around the mouth and they last up to six months before they need replacing. It is easy to get the correct brushing technique with this power toothbrush although it’s a bit on the noisy side which takes some getting used to. There is a two minute timer to ensure you brush long enough!

The design is functional and attractive with a holder for two heads with color coding for the use of different people. One thing to be careful of is to switch it on when its in your mouth or you’ll end up spraying water and toothpaste all over you! It’s vibrating action on the teeth and gums is gentle and works well so is very good for anyone suffering from gingivitis.
