The Garmin 405 CX is a bestseller at Amazon. It tracks, not only your heart rate, but distance and pace too. It then interacts wirelessly with your PC to upload the data. There is also a smaller strap supplied for those with smaller wrists. the advanced training feature includes a virtual partner to provide an increased challenge. It can be easily operated by touching the bevel instead of the buttons. The Garmin software (Garmin Connect and Garmin Training Center) are compatible with Windows 2000 and later and Mac running OS 10.4 or later with Safari. It also comes with a USB connection, AC charger, charging clip, manual and quick reference guide. Uploading data is easy and you can see your progress on charts using the software. You don’t need to attach the Garmin to your PC it will automatically upload data when in range. You can also wirelessly share your workouts, courses and locations with other Garmin owners. The Garmin 405CX sells at Amazon for under $370.

The GPS feature can be turned off which saves battery power and also makes it easier to use indoors as you wont have to wait for signal acquisition. The backlight is bright and the battery life good. Quote ‘I still believe that this is the best GPS watch on the market for serious runners.’ and ‘Satellite reception is excellent. It’s able to track satellites indoors! (though accuracy is degraded). The heart rate monitor is superb.’
Some people didn’t like the bevel feature which tends to lock up if you touch it with sweaty fingers.
Overall the Garmin 450CX is a well liked product that does exactly what it says it does and performs well.
