Effective Acne Products For Men
When it comes to treating acne, men do not have to deviate from the treatment principle that women follow. All they need to do for their breakouts to clear up is to cleanse and exfoliate, tone, and moisturize their skin. However, the acne products that men should use are different from those used by the ladies. Because men have higher incidence of acne due to their bodies producing more of the hormone that stimulates oil production in the skin, men’s skin products have different formulation. If the right products are used, long-term scaring can result, and acne scar treatment will be needed.
Daily cleansing is an essential part of one’s anti-acne regimen. It should be done once in the morning and once at night. For deeper cleaning, exfoliating once a week is recommended but should not be done for more than three times a week. When it comes to skin care, men have an all or nothing approach – they forget to do it or they do it too vigorously. The best way to go about this is to stick to the recommended cleansing and exfoliating schedule and doing it gently. Foaming cleansers with salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide are recommended.

Men and women usually leave this out but toning should be a part of everyone’s skin care regimen. Toning the skin after cleansing will remove all traces of cleanser residue on the face that may clog the pores. Toning after cleansing will also hydrate the skin. Choose a toner with alpha hydroxy acids as this active ingredient will dissolve dead skin cells. Avoid those with alcohol since they will dry the skin, causing the body to compensate for it by producing more oil.
Moisturizing may sound girly but only if men will use one that’s made for the ladies. There are many moisturizers that are specially formulated for men, and with manlier scents to boot. Using cleansers and toners may dry out the skin so moisturizer is needed. For acne prone skin, one must make sure to choose those that are labeled as oil-free, noncomedogenic, and nonacnegenic.
The three-step process of cleansing, toning and moisturizing may sound like a lot of work. However, following this on a regular basis will ensure that acne will be treated and breakouts will be under control. If men with skin that is prone to acne will combine regular practice of this skin care regimen with the right acne products that is specially formulated for them, having clear and pimple-free skin will be achieved.
