Electrolysis Versus Laser Hair Removal
Unwanted body hairs have always been a dilemma and removing them permanently is a goal most of us would like to reach. Deciding on what method to use is also a problem. The electrolysis- laser issue is a personal matter that usually depends if we are satisfied with the results. Electrolysis against laser hair removal, which method do you prefer? Which one is better? These two are considered to be two of the best methods of effectively and permanently eliminating unwanted body hair or decreasing their number, so to speak. Having an idea about the pros and con of each method can help you in deciding which method suits you.
Laser hair removal treatment uses a highly concentrated beam and directs it to an area with unwanted hair to damage the follicles. The hair pigment is responsible for attracting the laser. The laser contacts with the pigment when the beam passes through the skin resulting to the heating up of the pigment. The heat travels to the hair shaft of your follicle and damages your follicles to lessen the frequency of hair growth. Effectiveness of laser treatment is dependent on the hair pigment, so if your hair has less pigment it is not easy to treat.
Electrolysis on the other hand also eliminates body hairs by destroying hair follicles. The difference between laser treatment and electrolysis treatment is that electrolysis destroys hair one follicle at a time. The operator uses an electric hand-held needle to insert into your follicles and zap them with electric currents. The hairs are then removed from the destroyed follicles with a tweezers.
Another difference between electrolysis and laser is that electrolysis can be used on any one. Unlike laser, the hair and skin pigmentation of your client doesn’t matter. The only drawback most people have with electrolysis is that it is a slow procedure. The heavier your hair growth is, the longer your treatment would take.
Compared with laser, electrolysis is a permanent procedure because once your follicle has been treated, it will not return. Laser is a semi- permanent procedure in that your hair still grows back but at a slower pace. You usually need to have some sort of maintenance when you undergo laser treatment to ensure that you get the best results.
Electrolysis is not recommended if you want to treat a large portion of your skin like your legs, bikini line, and back. Smaller areas like your facial hair are better choices for electrolysis. Laser treatment on the other hand requires you to have 4 to 6 sessions to get good results. This procedure is recommended for areas like your underarms and bikini line. You can definitely see the advantages of each when pitting electrolysis vs. laser hair removal.
